Roseola or what?

Mum scared me into tears coz she associated Claire's high fever (quite a few days) with the head injury that she got last Thursday night.

So, i rushed Claire to KKH yesterday noon and subjected her to a blood test. The result is clear, Viral Infection!

The doctor EMPHASIZED to my Mum that if the head injury is serious, the symptoms will occur within 48 hours and not after 1 week.

At night, we saw rashes on Claire's forehead & tummy and this is similar to what she has when she got Roseola coz her fever subsided! The PD told me that its unlikely to get Roseola for the 2nd time but this is simply........

Mummy's fear

Will be bringing Piglet to KKH later.

Piglet fell backwards on last Thursday nite, had fever on Monday and the fever was yoyoing between 38.3-38.8... She still have fever today.

Mum scared me and suggested to me that I bring Piglet to KKH for a brain scan to see that she is alright.

I broke down in the office, WORK & PIGLET so much stress to bear and Pirate King was unsupportive in the sense that he told me that its not as serious as Mum painted the picture to be. He just dismissed the whole thing off.

What can i do? I m so tired.... Just gotta kill tasks as they come.

What a Chinese New Year!

This is the 2nd Chinese New Year for Claire. Last year, she was just 4 months old and crying like nobody's business whenever we bought her to other people's home. She didn't cry at my 1st Uncle and SK Auntie's place as she was surrounded by familiar faces!

On the first day, we dressed her up in red. Quoting my cousin's words, she is a WALKING ANGBAO! Anyway, she was enjoying herself very much as she gets to taste a Chinese New Year goodies (can read about my laments on my own blog) and alot of cousins to play with her!

Anyway, she was down with fever on Monday night. Yesterday was worse, her fever was yoyoing between 38.5 degrees and 38.8 degrees. Not to mention that she vomitted twice in the day. Out of desparation, i showered her with iced water and my heart broke when she was screaming and wailing when i did that!

Her temperature was bought down but it was her vomitting at night that did it! We bought her to the 24hr clinic at Clementi and the doctor told me that most likely it is viral infection. So we gave her the medication the doctor prescribed and she did not thrash around as much as the night before.

Despites her fever, she is super active and dun look like she is sick but she is quite sticky to us! And she kept on singing the "Papa" song, she was chanting "Papa" the whole night before she fell asleep! Now, i just wished Ms Piggy to recover soon from her fever and that her immunity will be stronger than before!

Temper, temper, tantrums~!

Ms Claire is starting to show us who is the boss now and its a test of my patience & sanity coz I had lost my temper quite a number of times by shouting or screaming at her... Made me feel that i m a bad mother!

On Sunday, we went to IKEA for dinner and we went for some window shopping after dinner to digest our food. We put her on the IKEA trolley and pushed her around. We saw this children chair and wanted to get it for her.

So, we carried her from the trolley and put her on the chair. BIG MISTAKE!

The moment we put her back into the trolley after trying out the chair, Ms Claire was WAILING BIG TIME! She refused to sit in the trolley and wants us to carry her! Pirate King & I ignored her totally despites getting stares from other shoppers.

What amazed me is that she can cry for a whole good 10 minutes! Wailing, sobbing, screaming all rolled into one! Pirate King was the first one to give way to her tantrums, he said, "Do u think we should just carry her now? She is giving us the "Merlion" look."

Well, the moment he mentioned Merlion, i got him to carry her but Ms Piggy refused! She extended her hands to me! She wants me to carry her instead!!! I carried her but she was still crying and sobbing very hard. I told her if she wants me to carry her, she has to stop crying but she still continue if not, i will put her down on the floor.

So, I just put her down on the floor (cried even louder) and emphasized my point again. Then I carried her, she still cried... So the action of putting her down and carrying her up continued for 2-3 times, till she fully understand what i mean. She stopped crying and after a while wants to be free range chicken again!

From her behaviour, Claire is really a stubborn one and this is not the first time she does such crying! Mum told me that she is spoilt but i think she is not. Claire is trying to push her boundaries and with each push, she learns. For me, i m still learning how to push the right buttons in teaching her and to control my temper even better!

The Constipation Empire STRIKES BIG TIME!

On Monday, Mum called me and told me that Claire pooed alot and refused to sit on the potty.

On Tuesday, Ms Piggy only poo a small nugget of hard & dry stools. On Wednesday morning, Mum had no choice but to insert a small piece of soap into Claire's anus. Claire managed to poo but she bled again.

So we managed to take 1/2 day leave and bring her to see the PD. It was quite an informative session and busting a few beliefs that the elders had on food & diet! Anyway, Dr Chan prescribed some oral medication and told us to change her diet to clear the hardened stools from her system first and it takes 1-2 weeks to do that!

Also, she told us that if this problem persists, she will have to refer to Claire to another specialist to do an X-ray on her tummy to check for any abnormality! That really freaked me out!

After taking the medication, wow.. Ms Piggy poo big time till her butt has rashes... Me just hope that her constipation problem will be resolved soon!

Tired. Tired. Tired. Tired. Tired.

Dun ask me what happened... I m just tired from everything....

Work => No end to my misery... Boss attitude still the same. Colleagues still think the same. So, isit my problem?

Family => Worried sick abt Piglet. Pirate King gets on my nerves at times and sometimes unsupportive.

Myself => Just frustrated and cant do anything except to tell myself to be positive.

SOLUTION => Perhaps get a good night sleep....

Her 2nd Wedding Dinner - 11 January 2009

Claire attended her 2nd wedding dinner at M Hotel on last Sunday. The first was Pirate King's cousin one and she was around 6-7 months old.

Well, the moment i put on my blue dress. Claire demanded to be carried immediately and she kept on using her little fingers to feel my dress. Once the adults were done, we dressed her up in the birthday dress that Mum made for her.

Ms Claire is so vain, she kept on smiling after she worn the dress together with her shoes. (I bought a new pair specially for this occassion!) When we reached M hotel, she was getting friendly with the people there. She even attempted to play with a boy there.

During the dinner, we kept her entertained by giving her bits and pieces of food and letting her out to be the free range chicken occassionally. I dreaded it most when she starts to act cranky coz bedtime is approaching! Thank god for my family who are there to help me entertain her while she was acting up and letting both of us to eat in peace!

Here is a picture of Claire, Pirate King, me and the bride before the dinner starts:

Constipation Strikes Again!

Sigh, the thing i hated most happened to the little rascal again!

Last Thursday, Mum called me and told me that Claire has difficulty in pooing. She has no choice but to insert a soap into her butt to let her poo.

Claire did poo but her anus tear and there was blood, it was so painful for the little one till she cried! Mum called and assumed that it was the problem of the formula milk AGAIN! Me was so frustrated and upon advice from my fellow forum Mummies' friends, i switched her formula milk from Cow's milk to Goat's milk!

The conclusion so far is, Ms Claire is constipated as she refused to poo not because of the formula milk or diet. Anyway, we managed to clear all the hard poo over the weekend as we gave her herbal tea to drink to flush them out.

I told Mum not to force Claire to poo, just tell Claire to let us know when she wants to poo by giving us a signal. So far, it works for me but she wont give Pirate King the signal that she wants to poo leh... Sigh....

Trip to IKEA Tampines - 4th January 2009

It was an impromptu decision to go there as we had never been there plus there is a free shuttle service from Bedok MRT station (Claire & me were staying at Mum's place for that night)

We were lucky coz the shuttle bus arrived like 5-10 minutes when we reached the MRT station. As usual, ppl tried to rush onto the bus. I was so worried that they might squash Claire coz i was piggy backing her with the Pikkolo! The ride took about 20-30 minutes, Ms Claire wanted to fuss but was stopped by our attempts to distract her with play or sometimes my stern face & words.

Well, the place is bigger than the one at Alexandra but I think the food served at Alexandra is better than Tampines! After dinner, we walked around the place to digest our food. Ms Claire saw this soft toy (a cat) and hugged it. We tried to entice her with other soft toy but she still wants the cat so we bought her that.

Now this cat is sitting at my Mum's place and for her to play with. We seriously hope that the cat will not be another white elephant.
