Over protective? Table Manners?
Last Sunday, was out having dinner with my in laws. The usual participants, my parents in laws, my sister in law & her 2 children.
We went to the Pu Tian Restaurant at Vivo City. The place is small and in order to max their seating capacity. There re no room to maneuver, a little shift of your chair might just hit the person sitting behind you!
As usual, Pirate King's niece wants to play with Piglet and she chose to seat herself besides me. But my MIL wants to carry Piglet so Piglet was transferred from the baby chair to her arms. So his niece, L went over to the other side. My SIL stopped L and told her to play with Piglet when Piglet has finished her milk. I was quite surprised by her move. My SIL is liked a big stone, oblivious to anything around her... That includes her 2 kids! On 2nd thought, she might have seen me smacking Piglet for not drinking her milk properly.
So L has no choice but to go back to her seat! And in the course of our meal, L 's table manners are simply atrocious. She will use her spoon to poke our dishes and the adults simply let her be without letting her know that its rude to do that. Then, her rice grains are scattered all over the table and not to mention always requesting for extra food whereby she still has not finished those in her bowl! I was utterly shocked by her table manners as L goes to a childcare centre and they teached the children table manners!
After we finished our dinner, we went out and there are ample space for children to run about. My MIL kept on shouting at my SIL children not to run about as the ground is rough and stuff. This thought went on in my head, "Ain't kids at their age supposed to run free, fall down and learn about it?" When my MIL finished shouting, it was my SIL turn to shout for them.
I related these to my Mum and we reached one conclusion, "Whatever the children turn out to be, it s all the work of the parents!"
Being a Mother now, i can thoroughly understand the pain & efforts that my Mum took to raise the 3 of us up. And looking at my hubby's niece & nephew, I must ensure that i teach Piglet the right values and table manners!

Claire has a new found hobby - Prowling around to pull things from their original place and crawl away elsewhere once she has finished pulling the stuff!

- Telephone stand - She will pull out all the magazines first and stand on them, continuing to play with the keys & telephone.
- Her wardrobe in Ah bond's room - She will climb up the mattress and pull out all her clothes. She still dun hv enough strength to pull out Ah bond's 30" Elmo!
- TV stand - She will press all the buttons on the DVD player and TV!
- Anywhere else that entice her!
Guess once she starts walking, i gotta keep an eye on her!

New Skills
Claire has finally learnt how to wave bye bye to us and she will only do it depending on her mood!
She has started to jabber and the fun part is she seems to know how to hold a conversation with us!
Also, the best part is to see her sway her butt and body when we sing to her!

Lesson Learnt!
I learnt my lesson from organising online sprees.
Main reason for organising them is to share shipping costs but it was a hella of work and now, there re 2 ladies who did not pay me coz of the lost mail.
Now, i m just praying that their items get delivered and i get my money back. Also, i just hope that it s genuine that the items dun reached them but not when the items reached them and they lied that they did not get it!
Cost of this lesson: SG$50! Guess it is peanuts compared to those who lost everything in the current US financial crisis!

Claire's Birthday Celebration Preparations!
Ms Claire is going to have her 1st birthday celebrated on 5th Oct 08.
So, as parents, Pirate King & I had to settle the guest list, deco, catering + cake for the party! This party, we are inviting mainly our friends and close family members as we did not invite any friends for Claire's 1st month celebration.
Frankly speaking, organising her party is not easy. We have to find the catering, the party theme & cake and all within the budget!
I m thankful that my family gave alot of suggestions in terms of catering & cake. In the end, we decided on a simple Barnyard theme for Claire, with catering from Eatzi Gourmet (thanks to V who helped us ordered the food) and the birthday cake from Choc-a-bloc (with Mum giving me suggestions on which cake design to choose!)
For me, my part is organising online sprees to get her party deco items and in the process of organising the sprees, i learnt something and realised that no matter how efficient Singpost is.. There re still lost parcels! Keeping my fingers crossed that i m able to get my $$ back!
Now, i just gotta pack party favours for kids and do the deco on that day! Many kisses and hugs to my best gal pal, Denise for agreeing to help out to settle the deco!
